Last week, I watched The Help with the Hardworking Hubby, Drama Queen and Tatertot.
OH.
EMM.
GEE.
What a movie.
I wanted to watch it again right after but was told I didn’t have time to.
Last month I read this book and was smitten.
It reminded me a lot of my other favorite book, To Kill A Mockingbird.
The minute it was delivered to the house tonight it was opened and placed immediately into the Blu-ray player.
This film……inspiring.
After watching it, the DramaQueen updated her Facebook status to:
you is kind
you is smart
you is important
This movie taught her things.
Things she was not aware of.
She never knew what things were like in the South during the 1960′s.
This film painted a very accurate picture for her.
Synopsis of the film:
The Help, the inspirational summer hit film people can‟t stop
talking about, arrives in homes just in time for the holidays, delivering this powerful story on Blu-ray™
Combo Pack, DVD, Digital Download and On-Demand, December 6, 2011.
The #1 New York Times bestseller by Kathryn Stockett comes to vivid life through the compelling
performances of a phenomenal ensemble cast including Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer
and Bryce Dallas Howard. The Help is a courageous and empowering story about very different and
extraordinary women in the 1960s South who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing
project.
In case you haven’t seen the trailer for the film, here is a quick look.
After watching the film, we checked out the bonus features and were very impressed with the “In Their Own Words: A Tribute To the Maids Of Mississippi,” which is an honest observation of life in the South from real-life maids, including director Tate Taylor‟s childhood caretaker, Carol Lee. This was probably one of the BEST bonus features I have ever seen included with a film and we really enjoyed listening to everyone’s stories.

Bestselling author Julie Kagawa is back with the highly anticipated fourth book of The Iron Fey series, THE IRON KNIGHT.
Synopsis:
Unable to survive in the kingdom of his beloved due to his supernatural nature, a warrior prince sets out to turn himself human. But first he must cross deadly lands and overcome nightmarish obstacles before reaching the fabled testing grounds, where he will endure a series of challenges. He is joined on his quest by a team of fantastical creatures, each with an agenda of their own—one, a faery prankster whom the prince has vowed to kill for past misdeeds; another, a wise-speaking cat who claims to be a truthful guide; the third, a legendary and villainous beast pulled right from the fairy tales; and finally, the last, a seer who appears to be the resurrection of the prince’s former love, long thought dead but now restored to life and as beautiful and tempting as ever. With these dubious allies by his side, the prince sets off to achieve his ultimate prize, but to do so will require overcoming the greatest challenge of all in his quest for a human soul—himself.
When exiled faery prince Ash swears an oath to his love, Meghan Chase—the half-human ruler of the Iron Fey realm—to return and be with her forever, he knows what that promise entails. Her Iron Kingdom is anathema to a fey creature such as himself, and in order to survive in it he must renounce his powerful supernatural nature and acquire a mortal soul. Only then will he be able to return and be with his love. But even as a prince of the fabled Winter Court, Ash knows only rumors of how an immortal can become human. Ash needs help, even if that help comes from the last set of creatures in the entire Nevernever realm that he would ever want to join him.
Our 11 year old DramaQueen read this book as it seemed like it would be right up her alley and of course, it was. She said it reminded her a lot of the Twilight series and she is looking forward to reading more in the series.
Disclaimer: I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my complete and honest review.
We recently went through the task of potty training our little Tatertot and I will be the first to admit, this was NOT an easy task. Teaching a little boy how to use the potty is very daunting. When we started on this, we taught him how to pee sitting down so he had better control of things. He was not of fan of sitting on the potty because he absolutely hated that his feet did not touch the floor and would just hang there. We have now successfully taught him how to do his business standing up, however this still requires a stool and of course he has to sit down to poo.
Last month, our issues were solved when I received an email about the Looster Booster and an offer to review one. The Looster Booster is a stool that conveniently fits right around the bottom of your toilet so the little ones have something to rest their feet on when using the potty and it does not need to be moved for an adult to use the potty either!

SCORE!
Since we have added the Looster Booster to our main bathroom, the little man has been loving life. He uses it every time he uses the potty and I have to say it has made potty time sooooo much better!! Now he doesn’t rush to get things done and have to make multiple trips and he really likes that it is just for him!
As an added bonus, the Looster Booster is super easy to clean! I just spray it down and wipe to disinfect it in case we have any little mishaps!

As a mom of 3, I am like to have things on hand for the kids to snack on in between meals. Now that Zman and DramaQueen are older, they are more into preparing their own snacks and assisting Tatertot at the same.
Things in our house just got a whole lot easier thanks to the So Easy Toddler Food cookbook from Fresh Baby.

This cookbook is full of quick and simple recipes that is easy for all of the kids to make!
One of our favorite lunchtime meals is the Lunchmeat Roll Up because they are quick and easy to make not to mention delicious!
Plus, the little guy has A LOT of fun making them!
To make the Lunchmeat Roll Ups you will need the following:
-1 slice of deli-ham, turkey, or roast beef trimmed to fit thesize of the bread.
-1 Tbsp cream cheese
-1 Steamed string bean, asparagus spear, or raw celery stick.
-1 Slice whole wheat bread, crust removed.
Spread the cream cheese evenly on the bread. Save about 1/2 tsp for later. Layer the deli meat evenly over the bread except for a 1/2 inch strip down one side of bread. Spread the remaining cream cheese down the strip, this will glue to seal the edge of the roll up. Place the vegetable piece along one side of the bread and roll it up from one end to another.
Makes 1 toddler serving.
With this cookbook, we were also lucky enough to review Fresh Baby’s NEW Kid’s Portion Plate!

This plate is another great tool during meals to ensure that your child is getting everything they need. It is divided into 3 sections appropriately sized for Fruits & Veggies, Proteins and Grains. I have found that it has been very handy in ensuring we are not overfeeding the little guy one thing and lacking in another.
Thank you to Fresh Baby for allowing us to review these great products!
