I know what you’re thinking…..how can the title of this post possibly happen?
Chores and fun in the same phrase….not possible.
Ahhh my friends, that is where you are wrong.
Chores can be fun!
Not only can they be fun but they can be rewarding too and not just for you or your partner but your kids too!
In our house we are all for having the kids help out around the house and think it is very important that everyone pitch in where they can.
Right now, everyone includes both myself and the Hardworking Hubby along with Zman, DramaQueen and even the 3.5 year old Tatertot. At this time the only individual exempt from chores is Bean. Her main chore is to just sit there and be cute!
I was recently introduced to GoalForIt which allows you to create a unique chore chart for your child.
GoalForIt lets you create a personalized chart that is not only fun but is a great learning tool for your child and teaches them responsibility.
I started a chore chart for our 3.5 year old Tatertot to help him get back into a daily routine since the birth of Little Miss Bean. For each chore that Tatertot completes each day he receives 1 Moolah and when he reaches 500 Moolah he gets to go shopping for a new Power Ranger!
Here is what his chore chart looks like.

There is a variety of designs and stickers to choose from to personalize your chart and different tasks to choose from and the option to create your own. You also get to choose what days certain tasks are to be done and how much moolah each chore is worth. So far we have only completed Tatertot’s chore chart but will be sitting down with Zman and the DramaQueen over the weekend. The DramaQueen has a big responsibility now….she became a pet owner over the holiday but that’s a whole other post!

GoalForIt can also be used for goal setting, behavior charts and even to create to do lists!

As I have shared on this blog before, the Hardworking Hubby and I have been working very hard to repair our credit history so that we can finally become homeowners.

Given our less than stellar credit history we are aware that buying our first home will be no easy task. We have been doing what we can to save money for a down payment and have started perusing the real estate ads.

We have both settled with the fact that because our credit has suffered over the years we will most likely start off our journey is homeowners with a not so great interest rate. Yes, that is a hard thing to swallow but we are willing to tough it out until we become eligible for a mortgage refinance down the road.

As we wait for our newest family member to arrive, along with the new year, we are anxious and hopeful that we can get this process going and be in our own home within the next 6 months.

For those of you out there who are homeowners, do you have any tips as to how to go about the home buying process for the first (and hopefully ONLY) time?

I just realized that within a matter of weeks, we will be back to the basics around our house.
You know, the baby basics.
Back to changing diapers, cleaning up spit up, and I will be nursing 2012 in more ways than one!
I get to start breast feeding for the next year of my life once again, losing sleep, forgetting to eat, do my hair, put on underwear or makeup.
These are the baby basics.
I will admit, I am looking forward to doing it all over once again but am very, VERY thankful this will be the last time I will be doing it.
So, bring on the diapers, spit up, umpteen loads of dirty poop soaked clothing…..I am up for the challenge one last time.
I can’t wait to snuggle and take in that netter than life new baby smell.
Oh, and the pink and oh so cute girly things I cannot wait to put Bean in!
I think the hubby is going to take away my credit cards and cut off all my access to Etsy and Pinterest because I have a serious addiction to finding adorable things I want to dress Bean in!
And seriously, where the hell were these sites when I had my 3 other children?
I would have done some damage!

With the Holiday season approaching rather quickly, I know there are a lot of people out there making delicious holiday treats, hosting cooking exchanges and preparing for the holiday. Since we don’t have a lot of extra time right now to prepare holiday treats and sweets while we are preparing for the arrival of our latest bundle of joy, we decided to participate in a Chex Party Mix-change instead.

We spent a large portion of last evening making yummy Chex snacks to share with our friends and family during the holidays.

First we started with a simple Chex Mix with the ingredients as follows:

3 cups Corn Chex® cereal
3 cups Rice Chex® cereal
3 cups Wheat Chex® cereal
1 cup honey roasted peanuts
1 cup bite-size pretzels
1 cup garlic-flavor bite-size bagel chips
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

We melted the butter in a microwave safe dish and then mixed all of the ingredients together by shaking in a large paper grocery bag.

Once everything was mixed together, we spread it out on a cookie sheet and baked at 250* for 1 hour while mixing it up every 15 minutes.

It turned out soooo good, I actually like it more than the stuff you get in a bag at the store! We also made a big batch of Chex Muddy Buddies too and have been looking at other recipes that we plan to make. Chex has a huge assortment of recipes to fit everyone’s needs including Gluten Free.

With several Chex Party Mix recipes that can be made in just 15 minutes and Sam’s Club stores providing you with everything needed to host a fabulous party, there’s no excuse to not call on family and friends for a celebration.

The great news is we are giving one lucky reader of The Megalomaniac Mommy a chance to have their own Chex Party Mix-change thanks to the folks at Sam’s Club, Chex Party Mix, General Mills and MyBlogSpark.  The lucky winner will receive one $25 Sam’s Club gift card and one box of Chex cereal.
