I honestly think I hate potty training MORE than I hate changing poopy diapers.
We are on Day 3 of the potty training.
With only 1 accident on each of these days.
It’s 10:30am.
1 accident today, but that was mostly my fault.
We’re using a Pull-Up/Underwear/Naked combination.
So far, so good.
We’ve also got a potty chart in the bathroom, a ton of stickers and a wicked awesome Sesame Street potty seat that goes on the toilet .
I’ve also had a toddler, in nothing but a Pull-Up, underwear or nothing at all since Saturday morning.
And we haven’t taken him out of the house the entire time.
And he has a wiener obsession.
So, at least we know he is a normal boy.
I am losing my mind.
In the potty every 15 minutes.
It gets exhausting.
Why wasn’t it this hard with my oldest son?
What do you find worked best while you were potty training your little one?

I’m having a really hard time with Aiden.. he’s almost 2 1/2, he goes more at daycare than at home because it’s potty time for everyone so the kids almost have a “competition” for who can go first kind of thing.. I offer at every diaper change or before his shower etc for him to go potty. He’s only asked to go 2 or 3 times. 9 times out of 10 he goes when he sits down. He just doesnt seem to care ! We even talk about how we can go out and buy big kid underwear when he starts using the potty all the time and even sing” bye bye diapers..bye bye diapers..bye bye diapers.. coz I’m a big boy now…. and its still not really motivating him to ask to go more.. so I really dont have any advice but would love to get some !! I have yet to watch the pampers DVD for help with potty training.. that might be a good start lol.. this is my first child so its a learning experience for all of us ..GOOD LUCK EVERYONE !

@Stacey,
Good luck to you, Aiden and Shawn. Tatertot is doing better than I expected him to be. I’m beginning to think it was easier with Zman because he was in day care whereas Tatertot is home with me all day. I’ve been reading everything I can on the Internet since it’s been 9 years since I potty trained a little boy and 7 since I went thru it with the Drama Queen. I have found the potty chart and stickers to be very rewarding for him. I just wish he were a little more vocal and would tell me when he has to go.
Best of luck!

Hey there Annie,
Oh man… Potty training. I’ve gone through 3 episodes of that story and my young one (8 months old) is going to bring on the 4th installment. There definitely are highs and lows (especially lows) but once they learn how to use the potty, it’s such a great feeling! NO MORE DIRTY DIAPERS!!! lol Whoo hoo! Good luck! Later!

Yeah, this is my 3rd episode of the potty training. It feels like forever since I have gone through this. I’m looking forward to it all being over with and saving diaper and wipe money for other things!
Thanks for stopping by!

I come from a family of girls, so I had to laugh at the wiener obsession. Then I got really scared that I might one day have a son. LOL

Corrin,
Do not be scared. Little boys are a blast! I’d take 12 more little boys any day over 1 more girl. Don’t get me wrong, I love my daughter to bits and pieces and to the moon and back, but I cannot handle another little girl. I was meant to have a brood of boys that I’d cart around to baseball, football, hockey etc.

I don’t have boys so I’m not much help except to say that potty training is the worst job as a mom. I’m with you on the changing diapers. I’d rather do that than potty train, but it’s all worth it in the end. Good luck!
