Archive for June 2009

My apologies for being so quiet the last few days. I’ve been busy mourning the loss of MJ with little mini music tributes every now and then.

I’ve also been quite busy with school. I have 2 classes ending next week which means I also have 2 huge projects due at the same time.

On top of all that, we also have company at our house this week, one 8pm baseball game for Zman, some serious grocery shopping to do and a bif 4th of July celebration planned.

It’s going to be a busy week, so I apologize now if I am scarce with the posts. I do however have a few interesting stories to share and will do my best to get them posted throughout the week.

Take care!

I know Friday is supposed to be my lazy day, but seriously how can I not blog about this weeks crazy sad events in the entertainment industry.

The week began with the death of Ed McMahon at the age of 86 on Tuesday.  Early Thursday afternoon we learned of the death of Farrah Fawcett at the age of 62.  Into the evening on Thursday, the world was shocked to learn that we had also lost the iconic Michael Jackson at the age of 50.

I will say, I was saddened by all 3 of these deaths.  Now Ed McMahon will never show up at my house or mail me a big fat check.  With the death of Farrah, watching Small Sacrifices or Charlie’s Angels  will never be the same.

I will admit that out of all of these deaths, I am saddened the most by the death of MJ.  I grew up listening to his music and trying to do the moonwalk.  I called WIXX repeatedly as a kid to request Smooth Criminal over and over.  I had albums (yes, real vinyl), posters, stickers, earrings and more all bearing his head shot.

I compare the loss and heartache that I feel for Michael Jackson as my mother did when Elvis died.  To me he was the Elvis of my childhood.

I wanted to share some clips from You Tube with you of all 3 of these incredible entertainers so we can remember them for the joy they once brought to our lives.

They are gone, but never forgotten……rest in peace………….

On Father’s Day, my cousin Anna and her father’s side of the family Welcomed Anna’s new baby brother Ben into the world.  He arrived earlier then scheduled but still weighed in at 8lbs. 4oz.  Ben was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and as of 7:30am today he began undergoing his first open heart surgery which is scheduled to last until somewhere between 3-5pm.  I wanted to share some pictures of Ben with you and encourage you to send your thoughts and prayers to the Meert/Willems Family.

I will post an update on Ben once I hear from Anna.
